Last week, Y1-6 were lucky enough to experience a live music concert! A huge thank you to Gigs4Kids for their string performance to Years 4-6 and to Luma Sounds for their beatboxing, rapping and music production concert to Years 1-3. As always, thank you to Bedford Music Hub for all of their support with providing these opportunities for the children. All the children thoroughly enjoyed the experience, listening to a range of instruments and learning new musical facts! Some children in Year 2 and 3 even had a go at beat boxing.

We would like to thank everyone that came to watch our production of Matilda The Musical last week. We hope that you enjoyed it as much as we did. The cast and crew worked incredibly hard across the year to put together the production and I think that we are all in agreement it was a huge success for all

Balliol Beach Day Year 2 had a fun-filled beach themed morning on Tuesday to celebrate the end of their hard work this year and the end of their ‘Coastline’ topic. This week, many of our older children are attending the BookTastic Book Festival at the University of Bedfordshire. Y6 have already seen the amazing Patrice Lawrence talk about her book 'The Elemental Detectives'. Y5 go today to see Jasmine Richards talk about 'Future Hero', and on Thursday, it's Y4's turn to see Lee Newbery talk about his book 'The First Shadow Dragon'. Huge thanks must go to the BookTastic team, who are determined to promote a love of reading in the children of Bedford and Kempston. As a result, all of our places were fully funded and every child who attends even gets to take home a copy of the book they have been hearing about. We wonder if anyone can beat the Y6 who had already started reading their book before they even left the auditorium?

Congratulations to His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort. We hope you enjoy our coronation song which we have recorded as a whole school as part of our celebrations.

Then we were were delighted to find out that they had also won the Bedford Choral Society Cup and prize and finally were invited to perform at the Gala Concert at the Corn Exchange to have it presented to them. This award gets awarded to the most outstanding choir from classes 1-6 so this is a huge achievement, along with what they accomplished last week! The children have used flowers and ribbons to spread these messages which we have displayed on the fence outside of the school. Please join us in reflecting today.
