Water bottles
Please bring your water bottle every day and take it home every evening. Water can be accessed during lessons at all times (the children will be aware that this should not interrupt their listening and completion of tasks/activities) and can be used at lunchtimes.
PE
In Oak class, our PE days will be Tuesday (outdoor) and Thursday (indoor). Please make sure PE kit and suitable shoes are worn on these days.

Learning at Home
Maths
We all know how important it is for your child to be confident with their times tables, especially in Year 4.
Times tables are the building blocks for so many other areas of maths, like division, fractions, and solving problems. Practising regularly at home really helps children become quicker and more confident, making their maths lessons more fun and a lot less stressful.
To help with this, we encourage children to practice their times tables using TTRS (Times Tables Rock Stars). It’s a really fun and interactive way for them to improve their speed and accuracy. We keep a close eye on their progress and celebrate their achievements with rewards for the most minutes played and the biggest improvements. This really encourages children to keep practising and see how much they can improve.
With a bit of regular practice, your child will build a strong foundation in their times tables and feel more confident with maths. Thanks so much for your support at home – it makes a big difference!

Spellings
Each week, your child will receive a new spelling list that they will practice every morning at school. On Friday, they will have a spelling test on those words to help them remember and learn them better.
In addition, there’s a half-termly test on their common exception words, which are important words that don’t always follow regular spelling rules. At the end of each term, your child will bring home a sheet with their focus words highlighted, so you can help them practice those at home too. This regular practice helps them become more confident with their spelling and improves their overall writing skills.
Reading
Children are encouraged to read at home for at least 10–15 minutes 3–4 times a week. As well as listening to them read, it is also important that they can answer questions about the book they have read. Have a look at the recommended questions for some ideas. Once they have finished their book, they can complete an online comprehension quiz. Please record any reading in their reading record.

Topic
Each half term, children will also be given 'topic' projects to complete. Please encourage/support children to work on these projects at home. Also, feel free to send any pictures or work via the class email as I would love to see what you have been up to!
