    Water bottles

Please bring your water bottle every day and take it home every evening. Water can be accessed during lessons at all times (the children will be aware that this should not interrupt their listening and completion of tasks/activities) and can be used at lunchtimes.

    PE

This term, Oak class will be having swimming lessons during the first two weeks of the term. These will be the 25th and 27th of February and the 4th and 6th of March. These days, children need to bring swimming clothes, a towel and a swimming hat. If children do not come into school with the correct clothes, they will not be allowed in the pool.

After these swimming lessons, P.E lessons will go back to Tuesday and Thursday.

    French

If you would like to find out more about what we have been doing in French with Madame Kaler, watch useful videos or find more information about challenges that she has set you, you can find all this here: https://www.petite-etoile.co.uk/balliol-primary

    Homework

    Maths

Learn their focus times tables and play TT Rock Stars.

    Bronze: 2s, 5s and 10s

    Silver: 3s, 4s and 6s

Gold: All times tables up to 12 x 12

Studio is great for getting your recall speed up, and, the faster you get, the higher your rock status!

    Spellings

Learn 10 spellings from the ‘Key Words’ list which has been copied and sent home so you know the words your child is working on this half-term. Children will be sent home with their spelling homework book. Their spellings are stuck in, and they should practice them whenever they have the chance to.

    Reading

Children are encouraged to read at home for at least 10–15 minutes 3–4 times a week. As well as listening to them read, it is also important that they can answer questions about the book they have read. Have a look at the recommended questions for some ideas. Once they have finished their book, they can complete an online comprehension quiz. Please record any reading in their reading record as they can earn E-Praise points for each time they read!

    Topic

Each half-term, children will also be given ‘Topic’ projects to complete. Please encourage/support children to work on these projects at home. Also, feel free to send any pictures or work via the class email as I would love to see what you have been up to!
