A very warm welcome back to all our families from last term! We hope you had an amazing summer and enjoyed some lovely family time together.

We would also like to extend a very special welcome to all our new families. It has been lovely to meet you all, and we are really looking forward to working with you and your children over the coming year.

We know that settling back into the school routine can take a little time, so please don’t worry if there are a few tears in the mornings. This is completely normal, and I promise it will get easier!

Thank you for your quick drop-offs in the mornings. This really does help the children to settle into their classrooms, feel comfortable and begin their day happily.

If you are worried about your child or would simply like to check how they are getting on, please feel free to give us a ring or send us an email at poppy@balliolschool.co.uk. We are always happy to reassure you and let you know how they are settling in.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support. We are looking forward to a wonderful year together!

Our Topic this term is Me and My Community -

In "Me and My Community," your child will learn about the school community and how to build friendships. They will explore the school grounds and learn about all the people in the school who are there to help them. They will explore how they are special and unique and how everyone’s family is different. They will take part in practical activities to help them build new friendships and explore what makes a good friend. They will also learn about the community members who support us, including doctors, nurses, and emergency services personnel.

Gentle reminders :)

Cold Weather Clothing

As the weather is now getting colder, please ensure your child comes to school with a warm coat, hat, and gloves each day. Outdoor play is an important part of our routine, and we want all children to stay comfortable and warm while they play and explore outside.

Please make sure that all items are clearly labelled with your child’s name so we can easily return any misplaced clothing.

Thank you for your support in helping us keep everyone cosy and ready for learning and play! ❄️🧤🧥

Communication Wallets

Please ensure that your child’s communication wallet is brought to school every day. These wallets are an essential means for us to share pictures, letters, and notices, and to help maintain smooth communication between home and school.

Checking and returning the wallet daily helps ensure that all important information is received and shared promptly.

Thank you for your continued support! 💬

Supporting your child at home

  • Look at family photographs together and discuss who is part of your family and extended family.
  • Look at baby photographs and talk about how they have grown.
  • Look at any childhood photographs of parents and grandparents.
  • Talk about the things you like to do together and places you like to go.
