This week, we read the story of Beegu, an alien who got lost on Earth. We wrote about his feelings and what he would do to help himself. In Maths we thought about place value and numbers to 50.
We had an exciting discovery outside, something had crashed on our school grounds. We looked at the different materials and what properties they had. In DT we explored mechanisms and looked at how we could attach wheels using different axles.
This week we looked at the story of the Bee and Me. This was a lovely picture book which we enjoyed talking about and adding our own words to. In Maths, we continue working on our numbers to 50 and putting these on a number line. We also used the skill of estimating. In topic we designed our Moon Buggies and came up with our design criteria. We used our science knnowledge of materials to label some different objects with their properties.
This week, we read lots more non-fiction books all about space. We learned wrote some facts and thought about how to present our work in a non-chronological report. We then had a go at making our own space facts book as a class. In maths, we learned all about mass and how to use balance pans to compare objects to see which is heavier and which is lighter. In the afternoons, we celebrated science week by doing science every single day. We explored how to make an egg bounce using vinegar, we tested balloon rockets, we explored what material objects are made from and many more exciting things.
